CALIFESTO – The biggest Bay Area Rap Festival all year lived up to its enormous reputation by providing the most talent performing live on stage in one show. With 3 separate stages going at once, all with their own scheduled lineups, all with their own set up of DJ’s and Host’s keeping the music and the Acts moving. One couldn’t capture all the action alone. The vendors which included Promotion Companies, Cannabis Products, Food, Music and Clothing Lines, the action and entertainment was everywhere.
On the Livewire Stage you had long list of openers such as The Guest List, Mac Milli, Bam Cassanova, Lady Faytal, Blue Face Kidz, Switch Rich, Kassandra Rose and more. Headlining that stage you had AKA Frank, Lil Goofy, Louie Loc, Stevie Joe, Joseph Kay, Shady Nate, Pooh Hefner and J. Stalin.
On the Thizzle Stage DJ Flashback of Ozcat Radio assisted openers like Monarch Dynamicz, L-West, TMR and Zoo Los. Nump and 187 Fac got on before the sound system began to fail. RBL Posse attempted their set but wound up crashing the Main Stage just shortly. Those remaining closing Acts were also taken to the Main Stage which from there on out messed up the scheduled timeline for performances.
The Main Stage was most entertained-ly hosted by Bully Wiz and Bacerocks. They welcomed many openers to the mic including D Wreck, Money Sign AD, Kid Versace, 2 EZ, Cos, Skitzo Norte, Ron Raxx, Carter Block Ent, Choco Taco and many more. Headlining the Main Stage early in the day you had Benny, then Lazy-Boy came on and brought more ladies out the crowd to the front of the stage. At the height of the afternoon came the headliner, Mozzy. He absolutely had the entire place watching if not rapping with him. I captured some incredible footage which is also available on our official Instagram page @1worldmagazine. The other headliners included the Fire God aka Young Dru, Cellski who woke up all The Jacka fans and Singular who delivered another stellar performance. I heard Lil Slugg, Stinje, and Baeza knocked out solid sets. I filmed Keak Da Sneak and Kafani, got footage of Clyde Carson, but missed J-Diggs and Boss Hogg. At the end of the night we had Nef The Pharaoh. He always puts on a great performance.
Overall it was a long day. I got there around 12:30. I got home at about 12:30, so yeah a solid day at work. The temperature got up to 82°, almost uncomfortable. The only complaints I heard about were the sound system failures at all 3 stages, the lineup blunders, and the lack of support for the paying opening Acts which felt somewhat cheated out of an audience and/or publicity period. Shot out to DJ West and TJ Tasi who kept the Main Stage moving the whole night. #1Love #1World #1WorldofHipHop
