Your last album was Gift Of Gas. I love this album, it really shows your craftiness and skills as a songwriter and lyricist. Not to mention you give off a positive and lively energy. How did you develop this?

By doing it. Really I been doing this for so long. I’ve had a lotta time to sit with different beats, styles and different artists. I feel I have developed a style that’s completely my own. Of course I have Bay influence, but I have influence from years of being in this Industry and listening to different people. So yeah I did it and I’d like to think I’m on my way to getting closer to perfecting it.

I have been following Singular since about 2016. Its amazing how personal Rap has gotten lately. You’ll have media platforms and other Industry players who won’t support a Gay female rapper. Singular openly rhymes about her sexuality but does it in a “I Don’t Give A Fuck” way, to the point where you don’t even notice it outright.  Let me let them know, I’m not a “Gay” rapper, I’m just a Rapper who happens to be Gay.

But because of that I believe it fuels your flame. Meaning: you go harder because you represent people, cause we are all people, that don’t necessarily get taken seriously or respected in the Rap Game. You represent them, because they don’t have a voice. Period.

You’re not in the Gay Rap World, this is your scene, we are your scene, everyone here. There’s gotta be a point where you become thee thing, thee female emcee artists reach out to for a hot verse. Is this happening?

I am the scene… Absolutely. It’s happened since I started doing it. The level of seriousness is different now. Let me just say that I do, do what you’re saying but on a broader aspect. I do it for everybody that got laughed at because they weren’t this or they weren’t that. Or they didn’t fit the criteria, Gay or not, Straight or not, whoever you are. I do this for the people who were overlooked, like I said because they didn’t fit the criteria. They were not what was popular. That didn’t make them any less raw. That’s why I’m here, to show yall. I ain’t never popped a tittie out or an ass cheek. Some people might say well that’s why you’re not on. That’s why you’re not poppin. Poppin like you should be poppin, but you know what, if I’m a do it,  I’m gonna do it my way. I don’t care about the views, the likes, the numbers. At the end of the day I care about the real actual engagement. The people who are showing up to my shows, buying my merch, putting money in my pocket. All that other shit is for the birds. Yes I might not be the next Nicki Minaj, but I’m rawer! I’m rawer! Yes I’m here and I’m the underdog. I’m the underdog and I always have been and I’m here for us, period.

What’s next for Singular?

Anything and everything. Right now as far as music, I’m working on Singles and Videos. I’m probably not gonna drop another actual project for a while. I actually released a new Single called That Fix with my brother Matic. The visual dropped, It’s a real nice little joint. Grab it, it’s on all streaming services.

Are there any other projects or people you are working with you want to mention?

Right now I’m just focused on myself. There’s a lot of local artists that I have been working with here and there but right now my main focus is to just push myself. I’m here with Matic and Tajie D. I’m just having a good time with it. I’m having a good time with it right now. I got lots of music. I got a new song with Band$, FREE BAND$. We shot the video, unfortunately he just got locked up again. I gotta bunch of dope shit on the way and I’m excited for everyone to hear it.

I’m always excited for your new music. I just wish more people were too. Here at 1 World Magazine we look at artists who are original, creative, talented, hungry and credible. I don’t look at digital numbers to determine if an artist is hot or not. Most of the other media out here, I can’t say the same.

Well you know how I feel, we ain’t gonna give anyone any shout out. You know how I feel, like I said, this is the North Bay, the Bay Area. We don’t have too much shit going on up around here (Santa Rosa). So when these platforms come out; they call themselves “For The People” this this and that. Yet they’re pushing people from the other side of the Country, people outside of the region and raping the pockets of the Independent artists here in their backyard. I’m not with that, I’m not for that. I will never ever be for that. So that’s why I appreciate you and the few other people like you that are out here actually out here putting on the artists that are here in the region. Why are you gonna sit here and put on somebody that’s not from here but yet you claim that you put on for your area, it makes no sense to me. Like I said, I’m black balled, but I’m not black hearted, and I’m in this bitch for life.

I see you as one of the dopest female rappers, period. Sexuality and all of that shit, that’s just something to talk about. I don’t even care about it honestly. It matters nothing to me.

A dope person is a dope person, and I’ve met dope people from all walks of life. From all colors of skin, I see an individual for who an individual is. Unfortunately a lot of people don’t. We judge based off of our experiences. Once you understand why people do what they do, why they act like they act, you find another level of peace within yourself because you realize that you don’t have to prove shit to nobody. All you have to do is love yourself unconditionally. The rest will come. I Promise.

How long did it take you to figure that out?

Many many years. Many many years but I got it younger than most. And I’m grateful and blessed for it. Through all the hardships that I been through. Unfortunately we as humans we find enlightenment through pain and suffering. But at the end of the day I’m grateful for what I’ve been through. Without I would not be me.
